Every rose has its thorns

Fu sighed while sitting next to a small hole in the ground filled with embers. The group had spent the whole day searching for their objective to no avail. Fu turned her attention to Yu, who was tending to their next meal, “I was sure we would be done by now especially with a Byakugan user on our team. Are you sure you’re using it right?” To most, Fu’s words would come off as rude, but she was a straight forward person and she didn’t want to spend multiple days camped out in the desert- Archie, her pet bear, would grow lonely and she could only imagine what kind of trouble he would get himself into if she did not return soon. “Didn’t the mission mention that bandits have attacked people who were gathering these roses? Wouldn’t that mean they know where they would be. If we are lucky, maybe they’ll show themselves and we can extract the information?” Fu was grasping at straws here, but it was better than nothing. In the meantime, she drew designs in the sand with a small stick she found next to where she was sitting.

Youta would lead Fu and the others to the edge of this ridge. Hiding behind some rocks he would say to the team “Does anyone see anything?” As they look over the ledge to this bowl shaped valley with rocky outcroppings and a stream going down the middle. Which seemed weird because it’s the desert and the stream does not really seem to go much further then the valley. There was a little pond oasis in the middle of the bowl and next to the stream mixed in the rocks are the roses that the team is looking for. “Hey Fu and Everyone the roses are over there. Fu since the Hyuuga and I have dojutsu, we will watch for intruders. While you go get the roses does that sound like a plan? I think it will work out for the best. Yutaru keep an eye out for any shinobi, bandits, or animals that might want to make Fu’s day a lot worse.” Youta would activate his Meigan. His eyes would glow a dark blood red and all the others chakra would explode into sight in Youta’s eyes. He could now see what elements they had also. Fu had a lot of elements and what looked like two advanced elements which was rare to see in people. While Yutaru only had the element of wind.

They would keep an eye out when all of a sudden he sees two chakra signatures trying to hide in some brush. He would calmly and walk over to the rest of the team and calmly say “I think we are about to be ambushed. There are at least 2 shinobi behind those shrubs by the oasis in the middle there. Be ready for an ambush.”

Their journey was finally coming to a close as their unofficial leader, Youta, had finally led the team to the correct location of the roses. He devised a plan, for Fu to go and gather the roses while he stayed back with the rest of the team and kept a close eye on things in the case an enemy had plans of invading their mission. “Okay!” Fu would say, not letting Youta finish his explanation. Fu readied herself in an athletic stance, bending her knees, and then would immediately explode into the air in the direction of the roses in the distance, causing a great deal of sand to become suspended in the air and probably showering all over her teammates.

Fu was now effectively flying towards the location of the roses at an extreme speed, appearing as a blur to most without a special dojutsu. Fu landed in the area of the roses, picked several as delicately as she could and placed them in a large woven basket that she was wearing on her back. “All done!” She yelled back to her teammates in the distance while waving, not caring if they could hear her or not, but more excited to be done with camping out in the desert. Fu choose to walk back to prevent from the roses flying out of her basket while she was in flight.

After all their searching the journey had finally come to an end. Yutaru and the crew had found some ghost peppers but the journey was arduous.

Starting out everyone got to know each other, and Yu kept quiet. He knew about the Hyuuga history and wanted to say something. Yus mother was an accomplished ninja from the clans original branch, and had long history embedded in his genetic line. 

However he thought it best not and was happy to have another Hyuuga to tell the story.

As the search went on the journey became a struggle. Yu had water and food, but all the walking was rough on his feet. Yutaru wasn't used to walking so much. 

When they were in range Dojutsu became active in the group. Everyone searched hard. Yutaru used his supernatural prowess to inspect far ahead under rocks for the ghostly pepper.

He found none, at first. For a whole three days he found nothing. For three whole days he strained his sight, zooming in and out to look for a plant. Yutaru was calm and patient pleasant to be around even. He didn't let his lack of success bring him down, but he did eventually let his eyes rest.

Fortunately the group had such sound team work and the roads were safe, Yutaru was blessed with safe road ways. While they went through the hot desert looking few passed, and everyone was on the watch.

The fourth day Yu was lucky. /he winds were blowing hard, and a harsh sand veil kicked up. Yu could see through it, and he found a silvery flower blowing in the air. High on a hill he had a long way to cross, but eventually picked up a teeny tiny pepper. 

As the journey came to a close Yutaru and the group stood st the same gates they began at. Yu was carrying his ghost pepper inside of a Scroll still rooted in soil, and smiled with the group he had come to known. The mission was a success.

Youta could tell that the team was getting tired and everyone wanted the mission to end sooner rather than later including Youta. Youta was so ready to be back at Hoshigakure he wanted a break from the desert and get back to his comfy bed and couch. He was ready. He would see Yutaru taking more breaks and rubbing his feet and it was obvious that he was almost done with the whole walking in the sand thing. “Yutaru we are almost done and then we can get out of here. Then you can rest your feet. Fu be careful out there getting the roses. Dig up a few and let’s get the hell out of here. Those bandits fall under not our problem. So I would not engage with them unless they attack.” Before Youta even finished his sentence Fu had already started to fly down to the valley. And Youta would be almost in shock. “Or just rush straight in, what could possibly go wrong. Damn it Fu.” You could see the frustration on his face. He likes to have a plan even if it is not his. He likes plans. This whole flying by the seat of his pants thing was not ok with Youta but he would calm down. He would yell “Fu do not forget to get the whole plant roots and all! And bandits this guy is literally flying. Let us get some roses and leave in peace.” He would activate monster and a dark pitch black aura would envelop him. Youta was hoping this would be enough of a distraction and deterrent that they would leave them alone. It seemed to work because they came out of the bushes and just turned around and started to walk away. He would then whisper to Yutaru “little do they know that this smoke does absolutely nothing to them.” He would wink and laugh a little. By then Fu would come back up to where Youta and Yutaru were. “Alright, let’s go before they realize that was just a huge bluff and come back with reinforcements.” They would travel for a bit more and rush back towards the village. As the village of Hoshigakure would rise over the horizon they would have a breath.

The time leading up to the completion of their mission was much longer than completing the task itself. Fu had flown and gathered the desired materials and safely placed them in the wick basket upon her back and returned to her teammates who had successfully guarded their location while Fu carried out the mission. “I’m not sure about you guys, but I’m ready to get out of this desert!” With that being said, Fu would accompany the group back to the village and claim her mission rewards.
